ON THE HUNT

MADEWELL NECKLACE + TOP, J. CREW CARDIGAN, FOREVER21 TROUSERS, WILFRED BELT, NINE WEST SHOES, MICHAEL KORS WATCH

It has been forever since I last blogged, and I apologize! I am currently going through a transition period, and the past few months involved lots of moving around. I'm now back in Canada - in Toronto at the moment, but will be in Vancouver this coming Saturday.

I wanted to dedicate this post to the topic of dressing for job interviews or the office. I had an interview last week, and found myself wondering what would be appropriate to wear. From what I learned, it's important to learn the culture of the office you're interviewing for (or already work at). Some are very conservative and formal, where others allow for a more creative wardrobe.

When in doubt, neutrals are always a good idea! Blacks, beiges, nudes, whites - these are all great colour choices for office attire. I threw in a chunky, fun necklace to give the outfit a little more character.

A tip for girls with short legs like me: sometimes, we buy trousers and they are full pant length even though they're supposed to hit around the ankle. Boo! When that happens, try to wear a shoe with a comfortable heel instead of flats - it'll elongate your legs and pick up the pant from the floor! A cuffed trouser can also help!

It's a new year with new prospects - good luck to all who are starting something new in 2012!

  1. Love the flats! Any bag ideas, or what to carry your portfolio in?

    1. Hey - thank you! My choices were limited for bags that day, but I carried my Longchamp tote since I also brought a change of clothes and my iPad (put my portfolio on there!). Since portfolios are generally bigger than a normal purse, I'd suggest bringing a larger bag such as http://www.michaelkors.com/store/catalog/templates/P6.jhtml?itemId=cat8519&parentId=cat8501&masterId=cat000000 that looks professional, or even an oversized clutch! Again, it really depends on the type of job you're interviewing for. Feel free to let me know if you have a more specific interview you're having so I can suggest something more specific :)

    1. My feet are generally a size 7... but my feet are also pretty fat, so when it comes to heels, I sometimes go half or a full size up. I got these in a 7.5, so they fit a bit smaller. Check out Nine West - they're on sale right now!
