Las Vegas 'grams

ON ME: TALULA BABATON BLAZER & PANTS, WILFRED TOP, SHOES FROM EBAY
ON HIM: H&M SWEATER & SHIRT, AE JEANS, CLARK'S SHOES

Last month, The Boy and I celebrated our three-year anniversary with a relaxing weekend trip to Las Vegas! I know, I know... "Vegas" and "relaxing" don't generally exist in the same sentence, but we did just that. We stayed at ARIA, which had sleek, modern accommodations - everything was remote controlled! In our three days, we inhaled not one, not two, but three buffets (The Wicked Spoon in The Cosmopolitan was the best one, hands down!), and did a lot of walking to offset the gluttony! We also managed to catch the "Mystère" Cirque du Soleil show, an equally funny and exhilarating acrobatic show which had me on the edge of my seat, mostly because I was concerned someone would fall and casualties would ensue. Fortunately, I can assure you that did not happen

I've since come back to work and school in full swing, but have my trip home to Toronto at the end of the month to look forward to! Hope you're all having a great week!

The Style Spy's "Girl of the Week"!

Happy Monday, everyone! A few weeks ago, The Style Spy contacted me and asked if I would be willing to be featured as "Girl of the Week" - I was more than happy to oblige! The post went live this past Friday, and is currently featured on the front page of their website. Swing by and have a gander! It was such fun thinking of answers to their interview questions - I hope you'll enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Many thanks to Nicole at The Style Spy for reaching out to me and making this post possible!

Here's a closer look at the outfit I chose to wear for that photo:

TALULA BABATON BLOUSE & PANTS, OAK + FORT JACKET, FOREVER21 NECKLACE & SHOES, MICHAEL KORS WATCH, MARC BY MARC JACOBS BAG

...And a bonus shot with my dog, Hailey! This photo pretty much sums up our relationship.

Thanks for reading! Have a great week!

On the job

I'm back! The long hiatus was unexpected and due to many factors, but I am determined to start posting again. I hope you all haven't wandered too far off!

I had the pleasure of helping out my good friends over at Tunezy with some event coverage at the David Choi x Clara C concert here in Vancouver! I've seen both artists live multiple times, but each of their shows just keeps getting better and better. Clara is such a musical genius (is there a single instrument out there she can't play?), and David's tunes just make your heart feel good. My new friend Alice and I were lucky enough to hang out with the band backstage and got to know them a bit - they're such fun people!

P. S. I've got some exciting news coming in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

COMMUNITY HEMP PARKA, WILFRED FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS, STEVE MADDEN BOOTS, MARC BY MARC JACOBS BAG

With Halloween now over, I've already seen lots of stores putting up Christmas decorations! Macy's has been totally decked out in holiday cheer. It's actually so strange for me to be seeing Christmas decor in Southern California... as much as I love the sun here, it just doesn't feel right to have Christmas AND warm weather - it's always been one or the other in Toronto!

These photos are actually from last year's trip to NYC - for the past two years, I've been in NYC every holiday season to visit The Boy and his family. I don't really know what it is, but there's always something magical about being in NYC for the holidays... all the city lights, the Christmas store displays, the skating rinks, people milling about... somehow, it just feels right. It doesn't hurt that NYC winters aren't as cold as Toronto ones!

I'm currently in the midst of planning my winter travel route... if all goes well, I'll be flying from Vancouver > Toronto > NYC > Vancouver. What are your plans for this holiday season?

DON'T YOU HATE SOCKS?

TNA by ARITZIA BEANIE + SOCKS, CHEAP MONDAY MILITARIA DRESS, MADEWELL SWEATER DRESS, AMERICAN APPAREL TIGHTS, EASTLAND SHOES, MARC BY MARC JACOBS BAG

Here's another set of photos I took up in Berkeley while visiting The Boy. I really the neighbourhoodly feel that Berkeley has - it's a very quaint place with lots of really great local boutiques and amazing coffee shops. My personal favourite is Sack's Coffee House - lots of tables, a great selection of teas, and a grungy, cellar-type feel that's somehow very relaxing.

This sweater dress was something I picked up at Madewell (quite possibly my favourite store, ever). It's so comfortable and very appropriate for Fall, though I may have plucked it out of the closet to wear a tad early since I was sweltering in it that day. I am normally not a fan of socks at all, but these TNA by Aritzia socks were just too soft to pass up. I figured I would need socks sooner or later. These Eastland shoes go with the whole comfort pattern and are perfect for giving any outfit that rugged, undone look. The tear in the stockings were unintentional, but I guess they worked out nicely here.

I spent the weekend battling what I think is the flu, and am still dealing with its stubborn effects. I hope to be back to full health by the end of this week - lots of things to do, lots of people to see!

DENIM & LEOPARD

RAY-BAN AVIATORS, WILFRED VIA ARITZIA SCARF, MADEWELL DENIM SHIRT, BRANDY & MELVILLE MAXI SKIRT, AE BOOTS, MARC BY MARC JACOBS BAG

I attended the AMP Music Festival not too long ago, a festival showcasing Asian American talent. It was nice to be able to put a living face to some of the YouTube artists that I'd been following over the years! And really, I would just never say no to good live music.

Found this colourful corner at the festival and thought it'd be a nice place to shoot. These boots... oh, these boots. I had been searching high and low for a pair just like them that wouldn't require me to sacrifice comfort nor too much money. These boots appeared before my very eyes while I was reading a Refinery29 slideshow, and I knew I had to have them.

This week is a busy one, but look forward to something different that I will be posting on Friday! All I will say is, you might want to get a bib ready in case you drool on your keyboard!
