Last month, The Boy and I celebrated our three-year anniversary with a relaxing weekend trip to Las Vegas! I know, I know... "Vegas" and "relaxing" don't generally exist in the same sentence, but we did just that. We stayed at ARIA, which had sleek, modern accommodations - everything was remote controlled! In our three days, we inhaled not one, not two, but three buffets (The Wicked Spoon in The Cosmopolitan was the best one, hands down!), and did a lot of walking to offset the gluttony! We also managed to catch the "Mystère" Cirque du Soleil show, an equally funny and exhilarating acrobatic show which had me on the edge of my seat, mostly because I was concerned someone would fall and casualties would ensue. Fortunately, I can assure you that did not happen! 

I've since come back to work and school in full swing, but have my trip home to Toronto at the end of the month to look forward to! Hope you're all having a great week!

DENIM DREAM

These photos were snapped on an overcast day in Steveston (lots of great cafes here, my favourite is Rocanini) with The Boy. Pulled this outfit together for a quick, comfy look. I'm not much of a jeans kind of girl, but these 7 For All Mankind "Second Skin" jeans are a dream. They're crazy comfortable and fit just right. I also recently got the jacket - I can't stop wearing it. It's the perfect jacket for in-between Vancouver weather!

ON THE TOWN

The Boy was here visiting not too long ago, and we spent a day downtown. I had the perfect walking shoes on, and a big scarf to keep me warm! The jacket is a new favourite of mine - it's quilted, comfy goodness with pockets that are nice and roomy. And those pants? For someone with terribly short legs, these cropped pantaloons are a dream!

THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

For our two-year anniversary, The Boy and I went to The Happiest Place on Earth - Disneyland! It certainly is my happiest place on Earth. If I actually lived in California, there's no doubt I'd buy a pass so I could go whenever I want! I finally acquired my very own pair of mouse ears, which now hang on the wall above my bed, waiting for the next visit to Disneyland (or Disneyworld!).

I love everything about the park - the food, the hustle and bustle, the shops, the rides... you name it! The Tower of Terror is by far my favourite ride. It seriously never gets old. That feeling where your stomach is in your throat gets me every time!

As for the outfit, I thought I'd wear something happy for the occasion. This skirt always makes me think of warm summer days and good times!

NOT LEOPARD? NOT INTERESTED

BRANDY & MELVILLE SWEATER, GAP JEANS, STEVE MADDEN SHOES, MICHAEL KORS WATCH

One of my go-to comfy outfits: an oversized knit sweater, boyfriend jeans, and a pair of flats/loafers. I looked at many leopard-print shoes before I decided on this Steve Madden pair - the colours and patterns varied from shoe to shoe, but I loved this combination the most. Whenever I wear these shoes, I go with a more understated outfit so it looks cleaner and draws more attention to the awesome pattern!

DENIM ON DENIM

Another outfit from my trip to California! Threw this together on a rushed morning. These Gap jeans are quite old - I absolutely love the length and wash, but my only tiff with them is that they stretch majorly throughout the day.

Looking at these photos make me miss the sunshine so much - the Vancouver rain isn't stopping anytime soon!

HOME TIME

Two weeks ago, I went back to California for 5 days to celebrate the 2-year anniversary of The Boy and I! It felt like the shortest trip ever, but I did manage to cover both San Francisco and LA, which was more than I could ask for. This set of photos were taken in Berkeley - the weather was perfect for layering! This Wilfred scarf is honestly the best thing - I have it in 3 different colours, and I wear one almost every day. It's warm, long, and doubles as a shawl.

I miss California dearly whenever I'm not there, but looking at photos help me remember what's waiting for me on my next trip. Stay tuned for more posts from my trip - including some yummy food pictures! Thanks for reading!

TOUGHEN UP

I hunted far and wide for this Volcom military shirt - it was sold out everywhere online and in-stores. I finally found it on eBay for a very low price, so I had to get it! With the military shirt and leather leggings on leather boots, I thought putting in the more fitted striped top would soften the look a little. This made for a very comfy, run-around-and-do-errands kind of outfit!

WINE COUNTRY

There's a wine glass in my hand in every photo... I swear I'm not an alcoholic! Back in November, The Boy and I went on a weekend trip to Napa Valley with his parents. I'm not usually one for wine, but it was a really nice way to relax and get away for a while. Away from the city, the air seemed fresher and we really got to take in some nature for a change. I learned that I prefer white wines to reds, and the fruitier the better!

My favourite part of this outfit is the boots! I found them at H&M in San Francisco - love the small, comfortable heel, and the perfect amount of distressed details!

THE LITTLE THINGS

COMMUNITY PARKA, J. CREW CARDIGAN, MADEWELL TOP, ZARA PANTS, DEENA & OZZY FLATS

These photos are from my trip to New York (December 14-29, 2011), taken at The Boy's hometown in Long Island. The weather was warmer than usual, but this was taken on a particularly chilly and windy day - hence my face in the last photo. When packing for the trip, I almost grabbed my peacoat instead of my parka, thinking it was going to be warm - good thing I brought the warmer jacket! This parka from Aritzia has definitely gotten me through some pretty cold days in Canada!

Warm as the parka may be, the star of this post is definitely this top I picked up on sale at Madewell on 5th Ave.! I love the contrast of the comfy sweatshirt material with the fancier beaded neckline. Another favourite detail of mine is the tiny jewel in the middle of the buttons of my J. Crew cardigan. More goodies - these simple black flats (love the cut of these shoes) were such a steal - on sale for $15 at Urban Outfitters! I also marched all around SoHo on a mission to find red pants. Zara had a great selection of red pants, but none in my size! When night came around, I finally came across a location that had ONE pair of red pants in my size. It was destiny. It's really all about the little things.
